Math this week:

   We will be finishing our chapter on money.  Continue to use flash cards to help your child learn the addition facts, as well as, having your child practice writing answers to problems quickly to help your child study for the timed tests.  If you would like additional worksheets to practice with at home, please, let me know.  (Note:  students have 1 minute to complete 30 problems on the time test.)  Thank you for your help!

 

Social Studies:  "Ireland"

  Students will be learning about the country of Ireland and its folklore as we anticipate the upcoming celebration of  St. Patrick's Day on March 17.  1st Grade's multicultural focus is on Europe this year.

 

Science:  "Weather/Rainbows"

   We will be learning about weather and the formation of rainbows.  Tuesday we will have a Severe Weather drill at 10:00 a.m.

 

     Will March come in like a lion and go out like a lamb ?    

 

In Reading this week: 

    To honor the birthday of Dr. Seuss on Mar. 2, we will be reading as many of his books as we can all week!

    

In Writing this week:

Students are busy writing in their journals each day. We have been working on using describing words in our writing to make it more interesting.  It is amazing to see the growth of each student as we read their journal entries and the short stories they are writing!
